Let me start off by telling you these are not my design, my handiwork or even my idea. My wildly creative sister, Melanie, came up with this ingenious wedding favor design and executed it perfectly. Mel married her true love Adam last Friday. They have always considered themselves nerds. In our family being nerd is cool. It means you are true to your authentic self and don’t really care what outsiders think. Mel’s Facebook bio even reads, “Nerds are awesome. I heard it on NPR” and she’s been spotted wearing a t-shirt that says, “Talk Nerdy to Me“.

Melanie raided the 7-11′s in Mesa, Arizona looking for old style Nerds. She and Adam created six different labels to add to the boxes. The front has a funny photo and the back has crazy “Did you know” tidbits about the bride and groom.
Honestly, aren’t these the coolest wedding favors ever? Why, yes they are!

Our latest custom design was created for Kristin Combs Photography. Kristin is a local photographer with a growing client list. To properly thank her clients and the vendors who are promoting her within the community, Kristin commissioned custom gift certificates for three groups: Wedding Clients, New Parents and Families.

Each gift certificate is printed on cream paper then mounted on a blue matte. I printed Kristin’s photos through a professional lab then hand mounted them directly on the gift certificates. Each variation features customized text, a space to write the recipient’s name and a spot for a hand written expiration date. The designs were created to be easily updated with new images in a horizontal or vertical orientations for future orders.

Additionally, we created matching note cards for a personalized note. Matching blue envelopes and ink tie the designs together. If you are interested in custom design for your business, please contact me for further details.

This week I created a custom design for a children’s art show and fundraising event. The exhibition was curated by a fabulous parent who also sketched the concept of the 32 Letters logo. Each artist’s first name is printed in the featured artist box. The envelopes will be hand addressed by the children for their families. I am hoping the invitation gives the event an extra bit of excitement for the kids. Moreover, I hope it inspires families to talk with their kids about the art they create in school, the joy it brings and the positive energy it generates.

Spring is just around the corner and we are celebrating with Easter Greetings! Our 2010 Easter goodies are now available in our Etsy Shop and on our website. Easter cards ordered through our website will receive free shipping!

I’ve been creating the paper elements for my sister Melanie’s upcoming wedding. She’s a bookworm, so I decided she needed library themed shower invitations. When I began Googling library theme ideas I discovered the most amazing wedding invitations. Diana, of Our.City.Lights, and her husband, a librarian, designed this fun and oh-so-fabulous library themed invitation suite for their own wedding.
As a stationer, I pride myself on my originality, but I knew I would never be able to top Diana’s clever design. Thankfully I wasn’t creating it for a client. This gave me the freedom to use Diana’s idea for my own DIY project, not as a design I would claim as my own or sell. I did my own take on the presentation, but the actual invitation is extremely close to hers.
I wanted Mel’s shower guests to share a piece of the themselves with her as she begins her happily ever after with her true love, Adam. On the invitation I asked each guest to return the book, a Moleskine Journal, to the shower with a personal note, recipe, drawing or photo for the bride to be. Inside the journal I created a library pocket for the invitation. Each book and invitation was wrapped with the green Divine Twine we used for Melanie & Adam’s wedding invitation and a personalized gift tag adorning the a purple graphic from the invitation.
Now we just wait to read the wisdom and memories everyone shares with Melanie.

This week I had a custom design request for a soon-to-be seven year old boy who loves to cook. This was a request near and dear to my heart because Jack, my soon-to-be seven year old, also loves to cook. The birthday boy is planning to celebrate by baking and decorating cookies with friends. I drew the whisk using my Wacom tablet. I was pleased with the bold look and wanted to balance it with a strong, chunky font. Great for a little boy. Great for a fun design. I used a recipe card format with Luna, a favorite handwriting font, to add a bit of whimsy.
If you are interested in ordering this design, it is available in your choice of nine colors in my Etsy Shop. It will be available on my website next week.
A few weeks ago I posted about wedding invitations I was creating for my sister and her fiance. I shared my inspirations for the invitation suite, but had to keep everything top secret until they went out in the mail. Well, they’ve safely arrived in the mailboxes of friends and family and I can share the final design with you.
The design was a group effort by my mom, my sister and myself. Melanie (my sis) drew the silhouette (which looks exactly like them), my mom came up with the text and the chapter concept, and I created the pattern, layout and production. Together I think we created a prefect invitation suite for the happy couple as they begin their happily ever after.

Last week I received a request from a local bride-to-be who needed to rush order wedding invitations for her upcoming Valentine’s Day wedding. She had chosen the cake, knew she liked vibrant colors and scrolls, and, well, was getting married on that iconic day of love. Traditionally, I like to spend several days to a week working on a custom design to play with my ideas, the wishes of the bride and groom and doing print trials, but this needed to be done on the double with papers I had in stock.
Above is the final invitation inspired by the wedding cake and designed, printed and delivered in record time. Congratulations Lori & Brian,* wishing you a joyful happily ever after!
